Description

Kenny Simpson is the Head Football Coach at Southside High School, a 4A school in Arkansas. He hold school records in every major category including: wins, points scored, points allowed.  In 2017 Simpson was selected as a Finalist for the Hooten’s 4A Coach of the Year.  The 10 wins in 2017 were also a record at Southside.  Simpson was selected as the 4A-2 Coach of the Year in 2017.  In 2016, he was selected as the All Star Nominee for the 4A-2.  Southside had never won more than three games in a season before his arrival.  They have now posted several consecutive playoff births.

Simpson oversaw a field turf project, a field house expansion project, a new press box, and the acquisition of a digital video board.  He has also fundraised for over $35,000 in weight room equipment and received two grants for equipment.

Before coaching at Southside, he was the Head Coach at Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery, Alabama.  During his tenure there, Simpson took a team that had been 4-16 in the previous two seasons, and led them to an 18-16 record.  For his success, he was named the Montgomery Advertiser’s All-Metro Coach of the Year as well as 4A Region 2 Coach of the Year.  Under his direction, ACA’s offenses in 2009 and 2010 each set school records for points scored in a season as well as leading the conference both years in points scored.

Simpson began his coaching career at Madison Academy in Huntsville, AL.  He graduated from Harding University in 2003.  He is married to Jamey, and has three children: Avery, Braden and Bennett.  The couple has been married since 2001 after meeting at Harding University.
